Endless Days & Sleepless Nights

The first picture is of my eye that I used a mirror to help position it. I photoshoped it so that only the colour of my iris is seen while everything else is desaturated. The next photograph is of a drawing I did; the words display feeling and emotion. I added the shading around the perimeter because I think it gives a sense of darkness closing in.
Reflection: The reading I chose to reflect on my creative act this week is A Way of Writing, by William Stafford. This reading talks about his creative process towards his writing. I believe that creativity is an individual and unique trait. My creativity is persuaded by my environment and experiences that I undertake every day. This past week has been a hard week on me and sometimes I feel alone, even though I am not. My act reflects my emotions; I wanted to convey a deep and perhaps dark imagery and bring words for others to understand on a different level. On page 617, Stafford writes "...the world remains always ready and deep, an inexhaustible environment, with the combined vividness of an actuality and flexibility of a dream. Working back and forth between experience and thought..." This quote reinforces my idea of how our creativity is brought out through our experiences and environment that we are involved in every day.

Foggy Nights

I took this picture on a foggy day while I was at the top of Cypress. Fog has always been fascinating to me. I liked the cars lights being altered by the fog; my friends bike rack brings in a new design for this picture. I brought out the colours of the headlights a bit more with photoshop. I added Disguised by Fog because I like how fog hides what is truly there.

Wash Love Away

I used these three photographs to display a heartbreak. It took patience and a few shots to get the heart with the wave over it in the right place. The first picture is the full heart, while the second is being washed away. I chose to put up the third photo because I liked how it shows that there is nothing left but the intricate bubbles of the sea.

Sun Shots

This week, I chose the sun as a theme for my photographs because this one thing creates many beautiful scenery's. Sunsets are primary shots for photographers, but I like to incorporate other things with it too. Tree's always have cool designs and create a new look when then sun is Incorporated. Also, I love using people in these pictures; their silhouettes are intricate. Overall, the sun inspires me when I take photo's.

Photoshop

I have used photoshop for many years and I like to try different things with it. I decided to take these pictures I took and alter them to change their focus or perception. The second picture is of my friend, Berny. I desaturated everything but her eyes to show her intensity. I believe this picture tells a lot about her personality. The first picture is of my friend Jordan. He listens to Eminem sometimes, so I decided to take Jordan and make an Eminem cd cover using photoshop. I play around with photoshop quite a bit and I like how it allows you to take an original photograph and change or enhance it into something new and diverse.

Montage

I made a montage out of photographs of the view from my house. Over a few days, I took around 50 pictures and picked the photos I liked the most, around 30, to create this. This shows the evolution of the environment around my house through the days. I chose to put in three pictures with my dog because it shows the changes. I like how it displays the different views and colours that can be interpreted in a specific place over a period of time.

Couples

I took these six photographs with the theme of couples. I chose a theme for a series of photo's because it brings a sense of consistency and different views to the subject. I photoshoped some of the pictures to give depth to the certain situations. When I took the pictures, I kept location, position, and circumstances in mind. I believe, with a theme, it give the viewers something different to think about and consider.

Apple Accessories

Classic

Hanging out
Listening
Playful
I took an apple ipod and and apple to create something as a play on words. The apple technology has a bite out of it, so I took a bite out of the real apple to make them match. I drew the face on the apple because it made it more amusing. This reminded me of the ipod commercials with someone dancing around while listening to the ipod; I thought I would use and apple in the persons place.

Leaving

I regret many things in my life, but this is my biggest regret.
After the last hug, I get into my car and painfully turn it on.
Solitude.
I blast my music to take it all away.
The pain.
I only think of one thing my whole trip back to isolation.
As my headlights splash the sign "Leaving the city of Vancouver".
My heart sinks.
Silent, dark, long; the ferry ride back.
Victoria, I go through the motions.
Empty.
Alone.
Waiting for the next time I return.
My biggest regret...
Leaving.
I long for every Van visit
I love you -- tla

This is a note I wrote when I was not very happy about having decided to go to Victoria for my schooling. Although I do love the independence of being on my own, I miss Vancouver a vast amount whenever I am here. By adding the picture I took, from North Vancouver across the water, of downtown Vancouver, I brought in a visual component to my note. I expressed my feelings out into a creative note to display my thoughts in a different way.
Reflection: In the reading An Inquiry into the Factors Related to Creativity, by Ronald D. Klein, the hierarchy of creativity figure is something that relates to my entry. First, the outer space is creative behaviour. This section is a combination of the four factors of environment, personality, process, and product; but it is in a broader, and more generalized sense. On page 258 of the reading it explains creative behaviour, “…it goes beyond the idea of creative production and has greater application to personal growth, human development, and education. Such behaviour includes the exhibition of creative traits in everyday life, not just in the workplace. It is behaviour that tends toward openness, growth…”. I start the writing of my note because my creative act began with my behaviour and, in a way, mirrors it. The second section of the figure is environment. This has greatly influence my note because it reflect where I am. The space of personality is an important one. The note I wrote reveals a part of my personality through my words. My process and product are just what lies beneath and is the conclusion of my work. Creativity can be displayed in many ways, shapes, and forms, but the hierarchy of creativity figure is a true component it a lot of peoples work.

Wine

I took these three photographs of a wine glass, with a bit of red wine in it, to show the shadows design and to look at the glass with a different perspective. The wine leaves streaks along the side of the glass that are only visible in the shadow. The first picture has lighter and darker areas that make the glass look a different way. It is interesting to be able to look at something ordinary in a creative and different view.
